Summer Love A Young Adult Romance eBook Alice Sisman

The voice of this writer came across as very immature, which made it hard for me to like this story; but that's not to say very young teens wouldn't enjoy it.

There was some defective content, in that some pages didn't deliver correctly to my iPhone (last sentences were cut off and didn't appear on the following page).

On the whole, it wasn't a terrible story, it just wasn't that engaging. I found the heroine way too annoying and too insipid, and the hero was just not well written enough for me to really care about him or what was happening in his world. In the end, I couldn't get half-way, so returned for refund.

Summer Love A Young Adult Romance eBook Alice Sisman Reviews

I received a copy of Summer Love for an honest review.

Haleigh Simmons is a high school girl who takes classes over the summer with her best friend and meets a boy that will become her long time crush Mika Harkett a foreign exchange student. Becoming close friends even after high school starts back up. Haleigh’s life changes a lot over the summer and she makes a lot of new friends while also struggling with finals and a best friend who begins to see an older man. It makes for an interesting summer.

Summer Love was a quick paced book which was nice and the writing was also really good.

Dislikes
The main character and her best friend were not all that great or relatable to me. I didn’t really understand their friendship or them as characters all that well. They seemed to be snobs with emotional issues who claimed they were nerds.
The overall story wasn’t all that interesting. There was never a point where I felt like a part of this was super interesting and just pulled me in. It was disappointing to say the least.

All in all
It was an alright read definitely barrow from a friend material. If you’re looking for a quick read this may be the book for you.

Thank you Alice Sisman for sending me a copy of your book!
Where to start.. Where to start.. ;)

I was contacted by the author to give my honest review so here I go...

Haleigh is a young lady, a summer before her senior year in high school. Wanting to advance her education, Haleigh and her friend Karslynn decide to enroll in the local college for summer classes. I loved Haleigh's wit and devil may care attitude. She's quick, smart, and makes no bones about the fact that she has a way with words. Having lost her father a few years back she finds that her mother throws herself into her work which leaves Haleigh having to fend for herself.

The "love interest", Mika, is an attractive exchange student from Belgium attending the summer college as well. He seemed to be sweet and considerate as well as a bit of a romantic. I wish I could give more insight to him but surprisingly he was quite absent from the main story.

I dove into this book expecting some sweet love story. That's what the blurb was really focused on. I just didn't quite see it. I seen the attraction.. Kind of.. But because of the blurb and even the title of the book I spent all my time wondering where/when this "love" story was going to start. I first thought that it was going to be a slow build but it just wasn't there. And because I was preoccupied with trying to find this love story I just grew a bit frustrated..

Ultimately, this book was about Haleigh and her friends. About meeting new people and building friendships. The daily goings on in summer/high school life. The banter between Haleigh and her friends were very funny. At times I was just cracking up. Truong and Karslynn were a riot (Truong especially). Although I was caught at times as whether this group was high school or junior high students. one moment the group seemed quite mature while other times quite immature. i just couldn't decide and it threw me off a bit. Aside from the fact that there wasn't a love story really to follow this was a very cute book. And toward the end you finally got a little taste of a potential love story. It felt rushed in the end. Going with the "innocent" flow of the book it really threw me for a loop the whole hotel scene.. Hmm.. Wasn't quite sure how to take that one. Where there seemed to be a slow build up of a relationship, I didn't see that kind of buildup. Lol This was such a cute story that if it wasn't for that part I would gladly let my teenage girls read the story. ;)

It kept me reading and thought it was well written. Although at times I felt like there was a lot of geographical references and boy do I need to brush up. Lol Pretty well edited and only a few spots where Truong was speaking to Haleigh but said Kars. There was also a missed opportunity to delve more into the mother/daughter relationship. I really think if the author change the title and blurb it would do a lot better. This story is more about the Life and Friendships of Haleigh than anything else. If I went into the book expecting that than I think this would of been 4-5 stars definitely.

I think this author has a lot to offer and look forward to upcoming books from her. Great job!
every time I hear his name, my heart melts. This book is a heart felt story that I couldn't put down. I highly recommend it!
good love story ,but tended to be a bit slow, I found myself skipping a lot of meaningless dialogue. the actual romance lasted only the last few chapters.
I needed a good story to laugh and relax with. Thus was perfect. I enjoyed the story and relationships. )
The book lacked fluency and scene creation. The story started well but it's almost like the author got bored and went bam, bam, bam ok story done. The main characters both left so much unsaid and undeveloped. The best friend just disappears from the book and storyline altogether. Disappointed.
The voice of this writer came across as very immature, which made it hard for me to like this story; but that's not to say very young teens wouldn't enjoy it.
