In all fairness to anyone reading my review. I know the author personally and he is a tremendous person. Book is a collection of short, but true stories of his Veterinary life that will make you laugh, cry and everything in between. Obviously Jim is a tremendous and successful vet. Not that bad as far as author's go. I really enjoyed his stories and felt like as if I was riding in his pickup on calls with him. Book is probably not as "polished" as a professional author would have written (or embellished), but the truthfulness of his stories meant more to many anyway. I laughed, cried & was left wanting more! While the last chapter was a fitting ending, it came too soon. As a client for 30 years, have first hand knowledge of Dr. Kenyon's compassion & empathy - & his whistling "A Lover's Concerto".
Great read! Each chapter contained true and interesting information about animals and their owners from the perspective of their veterinarian. Much of the content was humorous but always brought out the special bonds between the animals, owners and their doctor.l
This book was truly a Jim Kenyon original. His warmth, his sense of humor and his caring personality were evident in each vignette. Knowing him and knowing some of his clients made this a very memorable read.
James Kenyon is the 21st century's James Herriott! True tales of a country vet.
Anyone who loves Iowa and it's rich farming heritage, or animal lovers will like this book. True life stories. Bravo.
I enjoyed how each review of Jim's relationship with his special clients brought the reader into the story from beginning too the conclusion. Jim's descriptions of each painted great picture's of how he figured out the problem and then solved it.
This is a great little book, very Herriot-esk, but set in the Cedar Valley of Iowa.
If you love animals or stories about interesting characters, you will laugh and cry your way through this book
Readers 9 to 90+ will enjoy this.
